U.S. State Department Announces Plans to Evacuate All U.S. Citizens on Monday

Perhaps the most beautiful news that U.S. citizens stranded on St. Maarten and their loved ones can hear is “it’s time to come home.” Well, it’s time to come home.

There will be no transportation provided — that I am aware of — so everyone must get to the airport on  their own. That’s obviously going to be difficult for most people, especially for those that aren’t within a short distance of the airport. If you need assistance getting to the airport you may want to call the State Department and ask for advice. I will ask them too and post their reply here.

I fell in love with the island of Saint Martin the first time I visited, more than 10 years ago! Since then, I've spent a lot of time here getting to know this wonderful place and the friendly locals that make it so special. I adore the culture, the people, the community, and the beauty of this stunning island. SXM Strong is a website where I share my thoughts and love about Saint-Martin (French side) and Sint Maarten (Dutch side) with the world. I hope you enjoy it!
